Xarelto

XareltoIf you are a loved one has taken the medication Xarelto (also known as “Rivaroxaban”) there is a possible risk to your health from its use. Xarelto is an anticoagulant or blood thinner developed by Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Bayer. It was approved by the FDA and intended to reduce the risk of blood clots in surgery patients and reduce the risk of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation. In addition, the Xarelto has also been approved to provide treatment for deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Unfortunately, blood thinners come with a risk of internal bleeding, in the event of an emergency. While other anticoagulants have an antidote used to prevent serious injury, Xarelto, however, does not have such an antidote to halt uncontrollable bleeding, which may lead to hospitalization and even death. Xarelto has been linked to other serious side effects including:

  • Stroke
  • Blood clots
  • Gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Cerebral hemorrhage
  • Abnormal liver function
